67 Orlando companies make the 2017 Inc. 5000 list

A record 67 Orlando companies made it to the Inc. 5000 list this year. The Inc. 5000 list measures the fastest growing private companies in America. Orlando’s presence on this list has increased over the last two years, with 56 companies in 2015 and 61 companies in 2016. Orlando also surpassed metros including Kansas City (40), Portland (62) and Nashville (53).

Orlando is No. 1 city for recreation for second year in a row

For the second year in a row, Orlando ranks No. 1 in Wallethub’s best cities for recreation list. San Diego, Las Vegas, Tampa and Atlanta followed behind, respectively, to complete the top 5.

Orlando ranks No. 3 in Startup Density

Orlando ranks third in the 2017 Kauffman Index of Startup Activity in terms of Startup Density. The Kauffman Index is a series of studies measuring the results of entrepreneurial activity in a metropolitan area. The Index is a great predictor of an area’s growth because it measures “new business creation, market opportunity, and startup density.” The Index examines business activity in thirty-nine metropolitan areas by sampling and analyzing three components: rate of new entrepreneurs, opportunity share of new entrepreneurs, and startup density.

Orlando ranks No. 2 top metro for job seekers

Indeed researchers analyzed the job postings of the 50 metro areas with the most postings on Indeed.com and Orlando, not surprisingly, finds itself second on the list of top metros for job seekers. Indeed evaluated four key considerations in the job hunt: local job market favorability, average salary adjusted for cost of living, employers’ score for work-life balance and job security/advancement opportunities in Indeed’s review database.
