Amazon Orlando Robotics Fulfillment Center Creates Jobs and Career Paths

Less than eight months after Amazon’s Orlando Robotics Fulfillment Center in Lake Nona finished construction, the global e-commerce leader had already met its goal of hiring 1,500 employees. Within the 850,000-square-foot fulfillment center dedicated to handling smaller customer items, a synchronized ballet of humans and robots work side-by-side to fulfill customer orders and get packages to their destinations on time. The four-story flurry of fulfillment combines human intuition with artificial intelligence to create a collaborative, automated environment where employees are solely focused on tasks that require high judgement and awareness capabilities.

Imagine walking into a coffee shop that serves quality, fair trade coffee and ordering a drink, but instead of getting a bill, the cashier asks, “How much would you like to pay?” One might wonder how such a place could exist, but it does - at Downtown CREDO, right here in Orlando. CREDO functions as a donations-only coffee shop, meaning that customers choose their own price. Founded in 2010 by local social entrepreneur, Ben Hoyer, CREDO was created not because of a passion for coffee, but to serve as a vehicle for his purpose: to make his community better.

Emmy-Nominated Productions Created in Orlando

Two recent film projects shot in Orlando could earn Emmy Awards. The visual effects in “The Man in the High Castle” and the national “Love Has No Labels” public service announcement (PSA) received nominations from the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. These Emmy-nominated productions put an emphasis on Orlando’s technical resources for film and digital media productions as well as highlight its inclusive culture.

One Year After Pulse, Orlando Honors Love and Kindness

In honor of those who suffered, the City of Orlando and Orange County Government officially designated June 12 as Orlando United Day – A Day of Love and Kindness in collaboration with the onePulse Foundation, One Orlando Alliance and the Pulse Nightclub.
