Orlando Film Commission Celebrates 30 Years of Productions

The Orlando Film Commission is celebrating its 30-year anniversary as the region’s only one-stop shop for the thriving local film industry. The Film Commission operates as the liaison between production companies and city, county and state governments. The Film Commission also promotes the four-county region of Orange, Osceola, Lake and Seminole and the City of Orlando as a premier production community.

Orlando Startups Featured on ABC's Shark Tank

Three things – they’re homegrown startups from Orlando, they graduated from the University of Central Florida (UCF) and they’ve received venture capital offers from ABC’s TV show “Shark Tank.”

Lake County: The Perfect Location for Filming

Central Florida is a filmmaker’s paradise with a variety of locations to choose from. Projects have filmed in our area for decades, using the multitude of available landscapes from dense tropical vegetation and swampland to arid fields and everything in between. One of the Orlando Film Commission’s main goals is to present the Orlando region as a place where productions of all kinds can film projects in “Anywhere USA.”

Tomorrowland Film Previewed in Orlando

The Disney film Tomorrowland, shot partially in Central Florida, was previewed before an Orlando audience of cast, crew members and community leaders including the Orlando EDC’s film commissioner, Sheena Fowler.

“I was incredibly proud to watch the credits roll on the Florida crew,” Fowler said. “The creators of this film, two-time Oscar winner Brad Bird, Damon Lindelof and Jeff Jenesen are all highly regarded and working with Brad Bird’s direction allowed us all to challenge our skills and rise to the occasion.”
