The growth of social entrepreneurship in Orlando

Ten years ago, Shawn Seipler learned that the barely used bars of hotel soap he left behind during business trips ended up in a landfill. Shawn realized that these products could be recycled to prevent hygiene-related illnesses around the globe, and from this transformational idea, the organization Clean the World was born. The global benefit corporation, headquartered in Orlando, collects and recycles soap products discarded by the hospitality industry and distributes these products to the impoverished, preventing millions of hygiene-related deaths each year.

Orlando breaks ground on a new downtown college campus

University of Central Florida and Valencia College broke ground on their brand new downtown campus yesterday morning. The campus will be the new home for UCF’s social work, legal studies and human communication programs and Valencia’s hospitality and culinary programs. UCF and Valencia College are expected to bring over 7,700 students to downtown Orlando. The new campus is scheduled to open in August 2019.

3 of top 10 best colleges in Florida located in Orlando

Just recently, bestcolleges.com ranked three Orlando-based colleges in the top 10 best colleges of Florida. These colleges include the University of Central Florida (#6), Rollins College (#8), and Beacon College (#10).

Valencia receives top ranking for number of associate degrees awarded
