Orlando ranks high in national reports

Orlando has made some big lists lately with a series of top mentions in several national reports that tell the other half of the region's story. The area is earning accolades in film and digital media, education, economic success, travel and leisure. Here are the recent rankings:

  • Orlando ranked in the top five as best places to live and work as a moviemaker on MovieMaker Magazine.
  • Forbes shows Orlando is the #4 happiest place to work in the nation.
  • Orlando is one of the top places to visit in 2015, according to the New York Times.
  • Orlando ranked as the #1  U.S. destination booked by travel agents, according to a fall survey by Travel Leaders.
  • The Orlando-Kissimmee-Sanford metro area ranks #56 on the Milken Institute's list of "Best-Performing Cities" — up an astonishing 42 spots from its ranking in the previous year's report and the highest-ranked Florida city.
  • The University of Central Florida's College of Nursing was named among the best in the nation, according to the 2015 U.S. News & World Report's annual rankings released this week.
  • Forbes ranked Orlando #7 in the nation for African-American economic success.
  • Orlando's Redlight, Redlight mentioned in top 100 list of best beer bars in the nation by DraftMag.com.
  • Orlando ranked #6 in top 10 list of best wine travel destinations by Wine Enthusiast Catalog.
  • Orlando ranks as the #11 highest city in the nation, and #73 in the world for economic performance in a Brookings Institution Economic Performance measurement.
