The Orlando regional business campaign, “Orlando. You don’t know the half of it” won two prestigious advertising and marketing awards for both the website, www.orlandoedc.com and TV commercial that highlight the region as more than a place to vacation, but a great place to do business. The Orlando Economic Development Commission (EDC) and its agency of record, Anson-Stoner, accepted the first place awards from the Florida Economic Development Council (FEDC) Promotional Materials Awards Competition and the bronze National Telly Award for the television ad recently.
"We are proud of the accomplishments relating to the campaign so far and are honored to receive these awards,” said EDC President and CEO Rick Weddle. “They are truly the results of the teamwork, collaboration and assistance of the incredible partners who have supported the campaign.”
Orange County Mayor Teresa Jacobs originated the idea of a business branding campaign for the Orlando region. Research confirmed the area was not seriously considered as a business destination by target groups like c-suite executives and site location consultants. A branding committee made up of 40 of the top branding and marketing minds in the Orlando region and led by Ken Potrock, senior vice president and general manager of Disney Vacation Club and Adventures by Disney, oversaw the campaign. The goal is to get Orlando on the consideration set more often as a business location for companies looking to expand and locate in a new area.
Through in-kind support the commercial has been seen across the United States by an estimated audience of 21 million viewers. Visits to orlandoedc.com have increased by 41 percent, year-over-year.
