Florida Blue, the state’s largest health insurer, will add 280 new jobs, in addition to its existing 140 positions, as part of a major expansion of its Central Florida operations. The company made the announcement at its new, 30,000-square-foot office in Seminole County‘s Lake Mary.

Of the new jobs, 180 are full-time while 100 will be seasonal to help the company during the busy open enrollment period.

“Florida Blue is committed to the state of Florida. We’re proud to be the only health insurer offering group, Medicare and individual plans in all 67 counties, and we want to continue that commitment by providing job opportunities across the state,” said Tony Jenkins, Florida Blue market president for the Central Florida region.

“Orlando offers a well-educated, diverse population,” Jenkins noted. “Locating this contact center here in Lake Mary will allow us to further diversify the staff to provide our members greater opportunity to speak with someone who represents their community.”

Florida Blue joins other industry leaders including Verizon Communications, Deloitte Consulting and AAA who have chosen the Lake Mary area, now a hub for business services and IT companies.

“Demand for real estate in Seminole County shows companies want to be in our community because this is a place where people want to live, work and play,” said Commissioner Brenda Carey.
