Florida reduces Business Rent Tax

Florida eliminates sales and use tax for data centers

New data center developments with a critical IT load of 15 MW+ and a critical IT load of 1 megawatt or higher dedicated to each individual owner or tenant will not have to pay sales and use tax in the State of Florida beginning July 1.

KPMG breaks ground on its largest project ever

After announcing plans to build a $430 million global learning, development and innovation facility in Orlando, in early January, KPMG has already broken ground on its 55-acre, 800,000-square-foot operation in Lake Nona. This is the firm’s largest capital investment project ever according to KPMG LLP Chairman and CEO Lynne Doughtie.

New integrated entity name revealed at inaugural board meeting

The name for the new integrated entity that resulted in the merger of the Central Florida Partnership and the Orlando Economic Development Commission was ratified by the full board at the first meeting at the Orlando Science Center. The new name – Orlando Economic Partnership – was selected from more than 100 options that the team at Anson-Stoner developed in partnership with Chair-Elect Ken Potrock and Regional Branding Forum Chair Jim Alessandro, who represent Walt Disney World Resort on the board of directors.

Soon-to-Merge Economic Development/Chamber Group Names CEO of New Organization

The Orlando region’s soon-to-merge economic development/chamber group has selected its first president and chief executive officer to lead the new organization. This key leadership role will oversee strategic efforts to bring more high-wage jobs to Central Florida while promoting and enhancing the region’s dynamic business climate and quality of life.

Tim Giuliani, most recently the president and CEO of the Greater Raleigh (N.C.) Chamber of Commerce, will begin leading Central Florida’s newly created economic development/chamber group (whose name will be announced soon) in March. The new organization is being created through the merger of the Orlando Economic Development Commission (EDC) and the Central Florida Partnership (CFP), which includes Orlando, Inc. (Orlando Regional Chamber of Commerce). Learn More
